At JSW Steel (USA), one of America's largest plate mills, our unique business model helps us put our customers first. But even though we have more than 1.2 million tons of installed capacity, we’ll adapt our products to your business and engineering needs.
Most plate mills with our capabilities and scale are attached to a melt shop. Melting steel in a blast furnace is usually economical only in large lot sizes - 1,000 tons of steel is a typical minimum order quantity.
At JSW, we’re different. Got a special order? Our minimum rolling size is
typically as small as a single truckload - twenty tons or less. And (depending
on our backlog), our turnaround time is typically about four weeks.
How do we do it?
We buy slab steel from merchant suppliers domestically and overseas, and we roll plate to order. That means we can roll and shear to your exact dimensional, gauge, and grade requirements - all at a cost that's competitive with mills for whom 1,000 tons is a small order.
